Dermapen 4 Microneedling Treatment in Kitchener-Waterloo
Microneedling is one of the most effective advanced skin treatments for improving texture, stimulating collagen production, and restoring overall skin integrity.
At Shoreline Glow, I perform Dermapen4 microneedling treatments with a strong focus on skin preparation, barrier health, and long-term correction rather than quick fixes.
This treatment works by activating your skin’s natural healing response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin without the use of fillers or harsh chemicals.
It is ideal for improving:
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Acne scars and surgical scars
• Stretch marks
• Enlarged pores
• Uneven skin tone and pigmentation
The result is skin that becomes progressively smoother, firmer, and more resilient over time.
Non-surgical | Minimal downtime | Suitable for most skin types
A Different Standard of Care
At Shoreline Glow, microneedling is not treated as a one-time service, but as a guided skin correction journey.
Every treatment includes:
• A professional post-procedure care kit
• A Post Procedure 30min Express Facial (14–17 days later)
This follow-up treatment is essential in supporting proper healing, optimizing results, and reducing the risk of complications.
I am currently the only provider in the Kitchener-Waterloo area offering this level of post-treatment support included in the price.
Consultation & Skin Preparation (Essential for Results)
A consultation is required prior to any microneedling treatment.
Your skin must be properly prepared using a professional O Cosmedics homecare routine:
• Minimum 4 weeks preparation for most skin types
• 6–8 weeks for Fitzpatrick IV–VI to reduce risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation
Proper preparation strengthens the skin, improves healing response, and significantly enhances results.
PLEASE NOTE: Microneedling is not performed on the same day as your consultation.
What to Expect During Treatment
A topical anesthetic is applied during your first microneedling session to ensure comfort while your skin is being introduced to the treatment. For subsequent treatments, anesthetic is typically not required. This is intentional and beneficial.
Without anesthetic, the skin’s natural response remains more active:
• Improved microcirculation
• More accurate feedback from the skin
• Optimal controlled pinpoint bleeding, which is a desired endpoint in advanced microneedling
Topical anesthetics can cause temporary vasoconstriction (narrowing of blood vessels), which may slightly reduce the skin’s natural inflammatory response that is essential for collagen stimulation.
As your skin adapts, treatments become very tolerable, and working without anesthetic allows for a more efficient and biologically responsive treatment outcome.
How Microneedling Works
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, creates controlled micro-channels in the skin using the Dermapen device.
This stimulates a natural healing cascade over a 4-week regeneration cycle, leading to:
• Increased collagen and elastin production
• Improved skin density and strength
• Smoother, more even texture
• Reduction in scars and pigmentation
Unlike injectables, this process strengthens your skin from within, creating results that continue to improve over time.
Benefits of Microneedling
• Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
• Improved skin texture and tone
• Softening of acne scars and pitting
• Reduction in pore size appearance
• Improvement in stretch marks
• Enhanced skin resilience and function
Contraindications
Microneedling may not be suitable if you:
• Have used Accutane within the last 6–8 months
• Have uncontrolled diabetes or certain chronic conditions
• Have blood clotting or platelet disorders
• Are undergoing steroid therapy
• Have active infections, open wounds, or herpes simplex in the treatment area
• Have had radiation treatment within the last year
• Are pregnant or nursing
• Have a history of keloid or poor wound healing
Post-Treatment Expectations
After your treatment, you may experience:
• Redness similar to a mild sunburn (12–48 hours)
• Warmth, tightness, or mild sensitivity
• Light flaking or dryness
• Mild swelling or bruising
• Pinpoint bleeding immediately post-treatment
Additional considerations:
• Temporary darkening of pigmentation may occur before improvement
• Cold sore flare-ups are possible if you have a history
• Freckles may lighten or fade over time
With proper aftercare and consistency, results improve with each session.
All microneedling treatments include a post-procedure care kit ($110 value) and a Post Procedure 30min Express Facial ($80 value), which MUST be booked within 14 to 17 days after your treatment to support optimal healing and results.
🔍 FAQ SECTION
How many microneedling sessions do I need?
Most clients require a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, depending on their skin condition and goals.
When will I see results?
Initial improvements can be seen within a few weeks, with more significant changes developing over 2 to 3 months as collagen production increases.
Is microneedling painful?
Your first treatment includes topical anesthetic for comfort. Most clients find subsequent treatments very tolerable without it as the skin adapts.
Is there downtime after microneedling?
Downtime is minimal. Most redness subsides within 24 to 48 hours, with some light dryness or flaking in the following days.
Can microneedling treat acne scars?
Yes. Microneedling is one of the most effective treatments for improving acne scars by stimulating collagen and remodeling the skin over time.
Can all skin types receive microneedling?
Yes, with proper preparation. Darker skin tones require longer pre-treatment preparation to minimize the risk of pigmentation.
