5 Essential Tips to Prolong Your Spray Tan

Tan Tip Thursday!

If your spray tan doesn't seem to last the typical 7-10 days, you might be missing a few crucial steps. Here's what you need to consider to keep that sun-kissed glow:

1. Preparing Your Skin Properly Before Spray Tan Application The foundation of a long-lasting tan starts before you even step into the spray booth. A day prior, cleanse your skin with a shower gel free of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and exfoliate with a scrub mitt or an oil-free scrub. This removes product residue, toxins, and dead skin cells that can hinder the tan's development. Pay attention to top of your feet and ankles, knees, elbows and top of your hands, these areas tend to be much drying, a thicker with dead skin cells, and they would look much darker than the rest of your body.

2. Using the Right Shower Gel, Moisturizer, and Aftercare Products Specialized products are key to maintaining your tan. Opt for shower gels free of sulphates, as they can strip away your tan. At Shoreline Glow I recommend the Ginger&Me Body Care Collection. Keeping your skin hydrated is essential; use a moisturizer free of parabens, alcohol, and mineral oils. Dehydrated skin leads to faster fading, so ensure you’re using a product designed for spray tans to lock in moisture and extend your tan's life.

3. Avoiding Salt Water and Chlorine Both salt water and chlorine can strip your tan. If you plan to swim, apply a waterproof sunscreen to create a protective barrier. This helps maintain your tan while allowing you to enjoy your time in the water.

4. Taking Cooler Showers Hot water accelerates the fading process of your spray tan. Instead, opt for lukewarm showers to preserve your tan. This simple change can make a significant difference in the longevity of your tan. Avoid hot tubs and prolonged Sauna sessions.

5. Patting Your Skin Dry When drying off, avoid rubbing your skin with a towel, as this can wear down your tan. Instead, gently pat your skin dry. This method is gentler on your skin and helps maintain the evenness and longevity of your tan.

BONUS TIPS:

6. Avoid Tight Clothing Post-Tan Session Tight clothing can rub against your skin and cause your tan to fade unevenly. Wear loose, comfortable clothing for the first few hours after getting your spray tan to allow it to set properly.

7. Regular Touch-Ups Depending on how often you exfoliate and your lifestyle, consider scheduling regular touch-ups to keep your tan looking fresh and even. #tanthursday anyone? In case of an Event book your spray tan 1-2 days before your event.

8. Be Mindful of Your Skincare Routine Products containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), retinols, and benzoyl peroxide can speed up the fading process. Be selective with your skincare products to ensure they complement your spray tan.

The face is an area of our body that will loose it's color first. You can always get the Tan Water by Nuda and apply it every other day to keep your glow until your next routine full body spray tan visit.

By following these tips, you can enjoy a beautiful, long-lasting spray tan and make the most of that radiant glow.

Happy Spray Tanning!
