🌸 The Kindness Bloom Project: Opening My Heart (and Hands) This Spring

As the world begins to thaw and nature unfurls her blooms, spring often invites us to renew not just our skin—but our hearts. This year, something new is blossoming at Shoreline Glow, and it's a little different than my usual seasonal offering. It’s called The Kindness Bloom Project, and it’s deeply personal.
For much of my life, I’ve been fiercely self-sufficient. Not by choice, but by necessity. My childhood taught me to carry the weight quietly, to never be a burden, and to rely only on myself. Asking for help—or even accepting it—never felt right or safe.
But something in me is shifting.
This spring, I opened a door that’s long been difficult to even approach. Not for myself—but for a cause that lives deeply in my heart. I invited my clients and friends to support The Kindness Bloom Project, an initiative to bring care and supplies to our local homeless encampment.
This initiative is also in honor of someone very dear to my heart—Louise Bexton. She had a deep love for gardening and found joy in every bloom, no matter how small. Anything that blossoms reminds me of her gentle strength and quiet wisdom. The Kindness Bloom Project feels like an extension of her spirit—nurturing, generous, and rooted in love. It brings me comfort to think that each act of kindness shared through this project is, in some way, a petal added to her memory.
To be honest, I felt nervous. Tender. Exposed.
And yet… here I am. The donations are beginning to arrive—items wrapped in warmth, generosity, and compassion. And I’m sitting right now writing this with something I didn’t expect: a quiet grace, a softening, a sense of release.
This isn’t just about clothing, snacks, or hygiene kits. It’s about community. It’s about remembering that kindness still grows in this world. And most personally, it’s about healing an old belief—that I had to do everything alone to be worthy.
What’s unfolding is more than support for those in need—it’s a moment of healing for me, too. A reminder that kindness, when nurtured, blooms in all directions.
To those who have given or are planning to: thank you. You’re not just helping someone in need—you’re also holding space for someone (me) to grow into receiving with an open heart.
And if all you can offer is a kind thought or quiet prayer, please know that it matters too.
We rise by lifting others—and sometimes, by letting others lift us, too.
